ESHI looks back on 2017 and gets ready for a promising 2018!
ESHI - European Society for Hybrid Medical
Imaging - is a non-profit organisation
dedicated to promoting and coordinating the scientific,
philanthropic, intellectual and professional activities of hybrid
medical imaging specialists and users.
ESHI is looking back on a very successful year 2017 with three
courses, nine webinars and a rapidly growing membership base.
In particular, the latest course on hybrid imaging in oncology,
which took place on December 14-15 in Vienna, was attended by over
150 participants from 44 countries, including last-year residents,
general radiologists, nuclear medicine physicians and
Another course, jointly organised by ESHI, the European School
of Radiology (ESOR) and the International Atomic Energy Agency
(IAEA) was a big success and 12 participants from low and
middle-income countries were able to take advantage of a
sponsorship offered by the ESR and the International Atomic Energy
Agency (IAEA). Overall ESHI has given grants to more than 300 young
radiologists and nuclear medicine physicians in 2017.
Last year ESHI was very active in organising free educational
webinars on hybrid imaging, featuring prominent experts in the
field of hybrid imaging: around 1,000 professionals from 81
different countries have registered for these webinars.
Finally, ESHI has seen a constant rise in membership since its
foundation in March 2016 and is confident that this will continue
in 2018. Since the end of 2016, membership has more than doubled
and the society is proud to announce that it currently has 1135
members making it the fastest growing hybrid imaging network in
In 2018, European Society for Hybrid Medical Imaging (ESHI) and
European Society of Molecular and Functional Imaging in Radiology
(ESMOFIR) will merge to become
ESHIMT - European Society for Hybrid, Molecular
and Translational Imaging.
